Our farm

Let’s Farm is based on the outskirts of Winsford and is set in 100 acres of outstanding countryside, it is a rural location as well as being beautiful it is peaceful, quiet, and away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

It has a lake, woodland, meadows, and fields dedicated to wildlife and wildflowers.

It is a lovely relaxing working and learning environment.

It is a real working farm with traditional British Rare Breeds such as a flock of Shropshire sheep, herds of ruby red Devon and Hereford cows, pigs, chickens, ducks, rabbits, guinea pigs, other small animals, and fruit orchards.

Here's what our rangers do at Let's Farm

Farming

Rangers are involved in all aspects of large livestock management and production:
hygiene
giving vaccinations
feeding
breeding programmes

Our Pedigree Shropshire Sheep are bred for meat to a very high welfare standard. They are also exported alive for breeding. Shropshire sheep graze young tree sapling plantations which helps the environment by avoiding the use of chemicals.

Rangers enter Agricultural County Shows, preparing the animals, exhibiting the sheep and winning rosettes.

Lambing is a hands on event on any farm and the Rangers are fully involved, experiencing all the highs and lows of real-life lambing.

Rangers help with our pedigree Hereford and Ruby Red Devon cattle including the  breeding programme, pregnancy scanning, TB testing and feeding. Rangers learn how the cattle directly help nurture wetland and conserve ground nesting birds.

Lately, we've added Boar goats and rare breed Gloucester Old Spot pigs.

Community projects

Our community is important to us. We help to improve the local environment. The rangers go on regular litter picks around the Winford area to make our public spaces look more attractive and safer for the community and wildlife.

We also regularly work at St Chads church helping to maintain the grounds, planting bulbs, weeding, leaf blowing and pruning.

Small animals

Rangers care for and breed guinea pigs and pedigree lion head rabbits. They feed, water, clean out and groom the animals as well as serve visitors who come to the farm to buy animals we have bred.

Poultry

Rangers care for our chickens and ducks, hatch eggs in an incubator and serve customers.

Sustainable arts and crafts

Our crafting group develops our rangers' creativity using our sheep fleeces,  learning skills like felting, weaving and spinning.

We also explore painting, drawing, printing and photography.

Allotment gardening

Our rangers grow herbs, flowers, fruit and vegetables and use them to make meals, cakes and preserves.

Working to attract wildlife to the farm is important, we build bug hotels and grow plants to attract bees and butterflies.

Bushcraft

Our rangers learning to make fires using natural material found in woods. Then they cook on open fires using our own vegetables and herbs.

The rangers also learn how to build shelters but can shelter in our tepees if the weather turns bad. Rangers  learn how to use bushcraft tools in a safe way: whittling knives, axes, bow saws.

About us

Here's what people say about us

I started at Let's Farm in February 2023I come on Wednesday for Arts and Crafts because I like painting and making things.

This year I knitted a very long scarf.

I love to come to Let's farm, the people are very nice and I have made lots of new friends.

Our daughter absolutely loves Let's Farm. She is excited with anticipation on the journey there in the morning, and then buzzing with excitement when we pick her up in the afternoon.

She loves working with and learning about the animals, but also doing craft activities, and cooking.  She especially enjoys and benefits from the interaction and socialising with fellow rangers. The staff are great for encouraging independence, it is wonderful to see the Rangers discovering new skills and growing in confidence in this very happy, friendly and supportive environment.

Ryan has been coming to let’s farm for a year and a half now, in that time he has gained lots of skills and independence and become more confident!

He was always a bit of a loner but his social skills has improved and he now enjoys interacting with others!

Previously he barely left the house and was quite sedentary, now he can’t wait to go to “work” .

Lets farm has done wonders for him and also us as a family!!

Our Paul,  joined the farm at the very beginning, it has been life changing for him and us. We worried at first it would be too much for him, that the work  would be too physically hard and the weather too harsh, or the opposite and he would be a bystander while others did the work. We were totally wrong: Paul has flourished!

The staff encourage and guide him and Paul rolls up his sleeves, sticks on his wellies and gets stuck in.

We can't thank the team enough for the opportunity they have given Paul, he has a new lease on life and we are so very happy because he is happy and more fulfilled.

My son has Severe Learning Disabilities and Let’s farm has transformed his life. The farm is a brilliant project and provides much-needed meaningful activity for people with learning disabilities.

The staff have such energy and enthusiasm, and this is infectious and passes on to the Rangers.

My son really enjoys going to the farm, working outside and with the animals.

He’s always smiling when there.  In addition, his ability to follow instructions and to communicate has improved hugely since being at the farm which in turn makes him easier to manage and makes him much happier.

A brilliant provision long may it continue!
